This piece is much closer to home.
Rois chez nous is about Québec, identity and the quiet pride that comes from knowing where you belong. Not about being better than somewhere else, but about recognizing the place, culture and history that helped shape who you are.
The crowned fleur-de-lis brings those ideas together in a simple symbol. Familiar, unmistakably Québécois and given the weight of something meant to last.
THE IDEA BEHIND ROIS CHEZ NOUS
Rois chez nous translates roughly to “Kings in our own home.” For this piece, the phrase represents belonging, independence and pride in your roots.
There is something important about knowing where you come from, especially in a world where places can increasingly feel interchangeable. Sometimes pride can be as simple as saying: this is where I’m from. This is home.
A HANDMADE BRASS COIN
Each coin begins as a thick blank of solid brass and is individually engraved in deep sculpted relief. The raised surfaces are polished while the recessed areas are darkened by hand, creating the contrast and depth that define each piece.
Every coin is engraved, darkened, polished and finished by hand in Québec, Canada. Small variations in tone and finish are part of the process, making each piece slightly different from the next.
