THE IDEA BEHIND FLY ME TO THE MOON
The astronaut floating above the lunar surface represents that moment of leaving familiar ground behind. Surrounded by craters and an empty landscape, the figure becomes a symbol of curiosity, ambition and the willingness to explore the unknown.
You do not have to travel to the moon to explore something new. Sometimes your moon is simply the thing you have not tried yet.
A HANDMADE BRASS COIN
Each coin begins as a thick blank of solid brass and is individually engraved in deep sculpted relief. The raised surfaces are polished while the recessed areas are darkened by hand, creating the contrast and depth that define each piece.
The reverse features engraved blackletter typography, keeping the message as much a part of the object as the artwork itself.
Every coin is engraved, darkened, polished and finished by hand in Québec, Canada. Small variations in tone and finish are part of the process, making each piece slightly different from the next.
