THE IDEA BEHIND THE KING IS DEAD
The crowned skull represents what remains when power and status are stripped away. The crown is still there, but the person who once gave it meaning is gone.
It is not meant as a rejection of ambition. There is nothing wrong with building something, succeeding or wanting more from life. The reminder is simply that no title, possession or position makes us permanent.
Whatever position you hold, eventually what matters is what you did while you were there.
A HANDMADE BRASS COIN
Each coin begins as a thick blank of solid brass and is individually engraved in deep sculpted relief. The raised surfaces are polished while the recessed areas are darkened by hand, creating the contrast and depth that define each piece.
The crowned skull, distressed surface and deeply recessed details give the piece the appearance of something old, worn and passed down through time.
Every coin is engraved, darkened, polished and finished by hand in Québec, Canada. Small variations in tone and finish are part of the process, making each piece slightly different from the next.
